What is Hypnobirthing?
"Hypnobirthing is as much a philosophy of birthing as it is techniques. When a mother and her birth partner are able to approach their birth without fear and with knowledge, good support, and tools for the birth – then their birthing can be a positive and empowering experience.
The ‘hypno’ part of ‘hypnobirthing’ refers to the hypnotherapy that we use during the program to release fears and condition ourselves to release endorphins at times during our birth. With the help of hypnotherapy, the birth of your baby can be a more calm and relaxed experience; one where you are in the driver’s seat, rather than feeling like a passenger. This is likely to reduce the need for interventions during your birthing.
Hypnobirthing uses a combination of different techniques and philosophies that have existed for many, many years. Ancient wisdom is combined with modern theory – giving you the advantage in your acquisition of knowledge as you prepare for your birth.
Not all hypnobirthing programs are created equal, though. The Hypnobirthing Australia program is the most modern, comprehensive and popular hypnobirthing course in Australia. Always look for the original TEAL SEAL to ensure that you have booked into a course with a certified Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioner who is trained to our high Australian standards.
Natural birth is not a new concept! Our ancient mothers and sisters birthed naturally without the use of anaesthesia or many of the interventions that are common today. The Hypnobirthing Australia program can help you to prepare for a calm and positive natural birth; whilst at the same time having the knowledge and tools to effectively deal with any special circumstances if they were to arise." (Hypnobirthing Australia, 2011).

Sumayyah Giddins
Practice Name: Sister to Sister Birthing Location of Service: South Granville (NSW) My birth name is Shyloh and I chose the name Sumayyah several years ago. I am a doula graduate of Nakhlah Childbirth International. I am passionate about women’s health and managed Mother Nourished Wellness Centre for Women for 3 years. I am also now one of the directors of Nakhlah Childbirth International. I’m a Mizan Therapist, childbirth educator and passionate about natural alternative medicines. I currently live in Sydney Australia where I attend births all over the Sydney area. Before I was a trained doula I was asked by many friends to attend their births. I was honoured that they asked and of course I accepted, through these experiences I found my calling to educate women in their times of pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. I am now proud to call myself a Hypnobirthing practitioner and excited to move forward in another new way to help all the mums out there. I truly believe that better birth experiences equal better loving, mothering and nurturing environments which produce better, healthier, happier families which produces better communities which equals a better world. I am excited to be part of changing the world one birth at a time. |
